Tree Stewards are volunteers of varied backgrounds and ages, and are committed to maintaining and improving Richmond's urban forest. Tree Stewards complete approximately 25 hours of training in classes taught by professionals from the tree care industry and related professions. Class topics include tree identification and biology, proper pruning and planting practices, pathology, and tree selection. Program graduates agree to contribute community service working on projects that promote Richmond's Urban Forest.

Anyone can become a Tree Steward by completing the training course and agreeing to devote 20 hours a year to Tree Stewards' projects. Contact us for information about registering for a Tree Steward training class.
